My Creative and Tired Little Brain

Here’s my first stab at a simple blog post folks! Let me know how I’m doing ok? Haha. πŸ˜‰ Well I have been hard at work lately… A busy bee, if you will. I’ve been writing a children’s chapter book, finishing a short story, and illustrating my picture book. I’ve been doing those things while also managing family stuff, attending rehearsals for a play, going to a painting class weekly, planning summer holidays, juggling kids appointments, finishing an online illustration course, etc… and periodically hiding in the bathroom so I can actually eat 2 whole cookies in peace without a 3 year old pestering me to share.

I run around like a chicken with my head cut off all day with my two boys. I have sprouted a few more grey hairs I think, since my 10 month old has been getting more mobile. And my oldest is in a tantrum meltdown mode lately about the littlest things – its bizarre. So in the few calm moments I have daily, I try to squeeze in a paragraph or two of writing.

I find the bulk of my writing/illustrating energy is routinely saved up for the evening, once the kiddos get to bed. However, that’s precisely the time I have zero energy left. I am not gonna lie – I have crashed a few times when I really should be writing. πŸ˜† But it is all good, because there are other times I stay up late getting lots done. It all evens out in the end. I look at it this way… When my kids are grown I will have all the time in the world to write, so I can manage the bits of craziness for now. Time is precious with these little ones after all.

So, slow and steady it is. Any progress is good progress in my books.
